This book is published with an exhibition of more than 50 photographs by Danielle van Zadelhoff at CAC Málaga, the Dutch artist’s first show in Spain. The themes of her photographic works denote an intentional existentialism, reflected in her painterly use of chiaroscuro to convey the textures of each subject’s skin and gaze. At once simple and deeply complex, surprising and intensely stark, Van Zadelhoff’s portraits convey her fascination with the human psyche, using models to interpret innate questions of temptation, vulnerability, doubt, and faith as a pretext for self-exploration. It shows how the role and situation of women in today’s society is one of her main interests.

Over het Survivors project

Het Survivors ! AIDS Since the 80s Project is een tentoonstelling vol portretten in de London City Hall ter gelegenheid van World AIDS Day 2017.

Het ‘AIDS Since the 80s Project’ schakelde kunstenaar Danielle van Zadelhoff in om portretten te maken die voor het eerst getoond werden in de City Hall in Londen als een tentoonstelling gecureerd door Adam Roberts en Paul Coleman. De onderwerpen zijn mensen die gefilmde interviews gaven voor wat het grootste archief wordt in de documentatie rond de HIV/AIDS pandemie. Hieruit volgt ook een film die hun opmerkelijke verhalen zal verzamelen.

Dit limited edition magazine bevat beelden uit de tentoonstelling, geprint op Munken Polar Rough en op Arctic Volume. Om trouw te blijven aan de sfeer die de originele prints uitstralen, werd voor een groot formaat van 34 x 46 cm gekozen. Het magazine wordt bewaard in een plastic verpakking, met handgeschreven titel en nummer van de editie. Er zijn maar 100 edities beschikbaar en een deel van de opbrengst wordt gedoneerd aan het ‘AIDS Since the 80s Project’.
